The idea of sustainable development is close to our hearts, so we are happy to support companies that take this direction in their business. This was also the case with Rail Capital Partners sp. z o.o., a company specializing in lhiring out locomotives to train and freight operating companies.
Assistance in obtaining financing for an intermodal transport project
RCP used our support in obtaining financing for the purchase of ten zero-emission, modern electric locomotives for intermodal transport. The funds could be obtained under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, specifically Component E: Green, Smart Mobility.
As many as 72 applications were submitted for the competition, but only 17 were qualified for co-financing. The RCP investment was included in the list of supported projects.
With our help, the company will receive one of the highest subsidies on the list. We are referring to the amount of PLN 107 520 000. How did we support the client and what were the key challenges of the project?
Combining knowledge and expertise in the areas of State aid and financial analytics
The team that participated in this project consisted of experts in the area of State aid and financial analytics (from OW Analytics, part of the OW Group).
The project was very demanding in many ways, one of which is that there is not much investment in zero-emission rail transport in Poland. Moreover, it was not only competence that mattered, but also very good knowledge of the rail industry. Thanks to it, we were able to prove the high value of the project for the economy and the environment. We are referring primarily to its:
- ability to increase the number of goods transported by clean, rail transport (instead of transport by road);
- its complementarity with other transportation investments, with which it forms a coherent system that contributes to emission reduction.
The analytical part was also a challenge. It included the creation of a complex financial model. This stage involved numerous analyses - from demand analysis to sensitivity analysis.
Economic analysis was also an important part of the project. It was the one that showed that the investment is not only financially viable, but also has social benefits, such as reducing accidents, pollution of the lower atmosphere and climate change.
The client was supported by Kamil Ciupak, Mateusz Składanowski and Sandra Mrzygłód. Congratulations!
